What better way of celebrating the start of National Biodiversity Week than by turning up in your old clothes next Saturday May 18th at 10 a.m. to clean the river banks and make them fit for summer?

DODDER LITERARY PICNIC

Sunday, May 19th 3 p.m.

Celebrate the river by meeting us on the green at the Dropping Well, Milltown, for poems, songs and stories inspired by the River Dodder. Writers such as Jean O'Brien, Catherine Ann Cullen, Peter Money and Amanda Bell as well as voices from the past such as that of Austin Clarke will celebrate the river in song, poetry and story. Free admission.

FORAGING ON THE DODDER BANKS

Sunday May 26th, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

Adults 10 euro, children free

Join Mary Bulfin for a guided walk along the banks at Firhouse foraging for edible plants as our ancestors once did.   Mary will then give a demonstration of how to prepare and eat this wonderful bounty of nature at this glorious time of year.

BOOK LAUNCH

Wildlife photographer of the Year, Tallaght-based Mike Finn, has been much engaged with Dodder Action over the years.  He has a lovely book of photographs caught on his trip to the Maasai Mara, Kenya, coming out and being launched on Saturday May 25th in Tallaght Library by Kenya's ambassador to Ireland, Richard Opembe at 2pm.  All Dodder Action members are cordially invited.
